May in the Royal City: Community, Charity, and the Great Outdoors
Hello Guelph! It is officially May 2026, and while the real estate market is keeping me busy from Old University to Riverside Park, this month is really about the ties that bind our community together. Between local legacy events and hitting the links, here is what is on my calendar this month.
Supporting the Nightingale Centre at Cutten Fields
On May 9th, I will be at Cutten Fields for the High Tea for Hope. This event is particularly close to my heart as it raises vital funds for the Nightingale Centre. Co-founded by my friend Madison Lambden, the centre provides essential grief support for families.
From my perspective, helping people navigate grief early in their journey is a critical and often overlooked piece of the puzzle when it comes to mental health, addiction, and even housing insecurity. Supporting our neighbours during their darkest hours builds a stronger foundation for the entire city.
Euchre for Shelter
Tonight, May 7th, I am heading over to the Edelweiss Tavern in Kitchener for Euchre for Shelter. It is always a fantastic night of friendly competition (though my card playing skills are occasionally questionable) all in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. It is a great reminder of how our local real estate community comes together to support safety and housing for those in need.
Celebrating Local Legends: The Guelph Sports Dinner
On May 20th, I will be attending the Guelph Sports Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Guelph. As someone who grew up on local rinks and spent years as a ski racing official, I have a deep appreciation for our local athletic talent. It is a wonderful night to hear legendary sports stories and reconnect with old friends while celebrating the accomplishments that put the Royal City on the map.
On the Fairway and Behind the Scenes
It would not be May in Guelph without getting some dirt on my spikes. I will be out enjoying rounds at both Cutten Fields and Guelph Lakes Golf and Country Club this month, assuming my old sports injuries behave!
When I am not on the course or helping clients find their dream home, I will be dusting off some old marketing and design skills. I am currently refining the website and reservation system for the Wheels of Hope Golf Classic. Mark your calendars for August 24th, 2026, at Cutten Fields. It is going to be an incredible day for a great cause, and I am proud to continue my volunteer work with this organization.
Your Local Ambassador
Whether you are looking for a deep dive into the historical character of The Ward or you just need a hand figuring out the best way to tackle a renovation, I am here to help. I am not just your Realtor; I am your neighbour.
If you see me out at Cutten or wandering the Riverside trail system this month, please say hello!
