From Country Club Drive to the GORBA Trails
Most people know Victoria North for its spacious 50 and 60-foot lots and its family-friendly streets and parks. But for me, this neighborhood is the backdrop of my life’s first chapters.
Growing up on Country Club Drive, I didn’t just learn the streets; I learned the heartbeat of North Guelph. Before I was navigating the real estate market, I was navigating the deep snow and gravel paths that define this corner of the Royal City.
A Neighborhood That Raised Us
In those days, Victoria North was the kind of place where coming home before the streetlights flickered on wasn’t just a rule, it was the rhythm of the neighborhood. It was a time when “community” meant that every mom on the street was looking out for every kid on the block. We didn’t need cell phones; we had the collective watch of the neighborhood parents.
- The Classroom: I spent my formative years at St. Patrick’s School on Victoria Road, back when the neighborhood felt like a sprawling playground.
- The Rink: Winter meant one thing, Golfview Park. I spent so many hours on that outdoor ice that my parents would regularly have to trek down to the rink just to pull me away so I’d come home for lunch or dinner on a Saturday. There’s a specific kind of character built on those frozen nights under the Golfview lights.
- The Trails: Before they were officially recognized as the Speed River Trail or the GORBA trail system, they were just “the forests” to me. I spent my youth roaming the corridor between Riverside Park and Guelph Lake, exploring the very trails I now frequent on my mountain bike.
Why It Matters for You
When I walk a property in Victoria North today, I’m not just looking at shingles and foundations. I’m seeing the proximity to the trails I love, the quality of the schools I attended, and the long-term value of a neighborhood that has maintained its character for generations.
Whether you’re looking for a home with room to grow near the water or a quiet street that reminds you of a simpler time, I’ve been walking these paths for a lifetime.
Let’s find your place in the Guelph story.
